Community Cat Program

In 2025, OAR was granted the opportunity to pilot its Community Cat Program (CCP), a transformative initiative dedicated to improving the lives of free-roaming, unowned outdoor cats. With the ultimate goal of centralizing and standardizing Community Cat Management policies and practices across Hamilton County, the CCP will create a more humane, sustainable, and unified approach to caring for these animals.

During the first Pilot Year, OAR seeks to develop standard operating procedures, program structure, and targeted TNR methods that are sustainable, scalable, and able to replicated within other communities.

We are beyond thrilled for the opportunity to spearhead this program, and extend our deepest gratitude to the Joanie Bernard Foundation for making this initiative possible.

Volunteer

The success of our program relies on the support of cat lovers, like you! From canvassing in targeted neighborhoods to trapping, there is an opportunity for everyone! Visit our Volunteer Page to learn about current opportunities!

Spread the Word

Tell your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, boss, and mailman—tell everyone!—about the benefits of TNR and the Community Cat Program! Bringing awareness to the program, especially in our targeted communities, really helps!

Start TNR in your neighborhood

Since 1998, OAR has helped outdoor cats live their best lives. So, even if you don’t live in one of the communities being served through our targeted Community Cats Program, we’re still here to help! Our Spay/Neuter Clinic offers a robust and accessible TNR to help cats in every community receive the lifesaving benefits of TNR. Visit our TNR page to learn more!

Help us with our Cat Census!

By participating in our Cat Census (you can find it on the bottom of this page) you will help us gain valuable insights into the location and needs of community cats and their caretakers. We’ll only use the information to guide our feline-focused programming in the direction that will help the most cats, and the most people.
